Oooh - I love those early Fox-body Mustangs, especially the Capri of that era before they went to that stupid bubble-back hatch. T-tops and those cool TRX wheels are just the best.

I need a fox body as well. I’ve got the 6L LS and transmission screaming to get out of that ugly van. I have the Valiant, but I would never hear the end of it from my father in law if I pulled out the slant six. It was my wife’s car in high school so it’s not really mine, I just get to work on it. Most of the slant six stuff in the junkyards was sold as scrap when the price of metal shot up 8-10 years ago.

Long story short, I need a fox body.

A buddy from high school had an fastback hatch (I believe it was an 84) with the 4 squares in dark blue. It had the 2 barrel 6cyl with an auto and it could barely get out of it’s own way - but it was still fun. I am partial to the post 1987 updated nose with the cool, big euro headlights.

I’m definitely one of those people since I love Aztecs and Ford Tauruses. The Mustang just seems odd even in our group I guess because it’s right there between popular and despised.

I think there are a few of those. Similarly to these Mustangs, the egg-eyed 996 is an unpopular version of a popular car that has a few fans around here.

And there’s definitely some variation, too. While I’m with you on the Aztek, there isn’t a Taurus I care about, but I’m a huge fan of Fieros, which get more than their fair share of hate.

My love for the Taurus comes from learning the ins and outs of two of them that I have owned. Also, I love the SHO models. The Fiero I’m on the edge with, I like the idea but I don’t think I would own one.

I’ve driven a notchback V6 from that era. Auto. Slow as balls but reasonably tossable.

Plastic headlights and a fastback. Neat, but I utterly love the classic three-box style of the notchback and the pre-facelift grille and headlights are so unassuming that many people would fail to identify the car.

I can deal with the headlights and maybe the notchback separately but together they are just terrible looking in my opinion.
